The frustration of being an e bay seller at the moment is dire… I mainly do this for my lad to help him, sales in the last few months have dipped drastically. This buyer protection has screwed up anyone buying and made prices rise. My items are all between £ 3 and £5, most buyers would buy 3 or more regularly… sometimes up to 12 items. This I never see anymore. People just buy one or two things and they are now rare.. ever since I’ve been selling on here, they are constantly changing things. Not always better. But this latest is obviously just to benifit e bay and you get to keep our money longer. Thanks e bay 👍🏻 for making yourselves one of the worst selling sites about.

You're trading on the wrong kind of account - if you switch to the correct business account then your customers won't have 75p + 4% added to each purchase, and you won't be stuck with having to use eBay's Simple Delivery.
A private seller is one who is just selling off their own personal items such as clothes from their wardrobe, bits from their loft/garage etc.
A Business seller is someone who buys or makes items to sell on. They need to be registered as a business to meet the requirements of UK law. eBay will be providing HMRC with your details anyway so it's vital to keep correct accounts for your tax return. You can obviously offset more expenses as a business seller, but can't offset any at all as a private one.
To correctly register as a business seller simply go to your Personal Information in your account and to the right of Account Type, which will be showing as 'Individual' you'll see an Edit option.

This doesn't affect your feedback profile or any current listings, it merely upgrades your account so that you're compliant with current consumer and eBay policy.
If you're also selling your own items, just open another eBay account (you can have more than one).

That 75p which for some reason seems to be charged as 72p is the killer.
Feel obliged to reduce prices by 75p to entice buyers, but that does not improve sales. ebay does seem to want rid of small sellers, although by charging buyers for something that was free, they are making more on small sales than seller.
I am surprised that ebay pays out on claims for damage in transit without investigating, as most damage is caused by poor packing by seller, and to my mind is open to abuse, as a good way to get rid of damaged items at undamaged prices. Buyer just opens case and gets full refund.
