Plastic Toxicity

Firstly I received a plastic base butter dish yesterday and was disappointed to see the base misshapen. If this was the only thing wrong I could have lived with it, but I’m afraid that this person and eBay are selling something highly toxic to human beings. I left the base in distilled water overnight with a TDS reading of zero. After leaving it less than 12 hours the reading increased by over 500%. This means that micro plastics leached from the base into the water. This is a major health hazard that should be alerted to the food health and hygiene board. What are your thoughts please.

This is clearly something that concerns you greatly.

Lots of alternatives to plastic are available - especially for something as common as a butter dish.

If you are unhappy with your purchase, as it was misshapen, you can open a return and send it back at the seller's expense.

If you bought a new item from a UK business seller, and you feel the item is unsafe, you should report it to trading standards.
