Payment on hold just seems like a scam for ebay to hold onto peoples cash to earn interest on it. My item has been delivered and still waiting fot the money. No reason provided why it is on hold. With the high selling fees and scams like this I think i will be looking to use other sales sites in the future. Did use to think ebay was great but not any longer. Dave

Here is the reason for the hold.
Payments are placed on hold for a security measure both for your account and for your buyer.
As you are a new seller, eBay have none of your selling history, so they need to see that a paid for item, will be shipped and delivered to the buyer. If you have tracking showing delivery, this will speed up that payout, and it is sent to your bank usually within a few days.
This has to be in place otherwise anyone could come on eBay sell expensive items, take the money and not post out the item. Once you are established as a good seller posting out items promptly, this hold stops, and you can select a daily or weekly payout from your sales.

I have my payment on hold after 9 years with Ebay. I never had an issue before. The item was delivered at the right address. The buyer claimed non-receipt after 7 days. He won the appeal and I have double loss, hold payment and no item. I noticed today when I wanted to cancel my account for good that somebody purchased a new label on my account Ebay Packlink on the date the buyer opened the case against me for non-receipt. The new label is with different carrier and different weight but it shown the same case ID. I spent an awful amount of time on the phone with Ebay and Evri yet is nothing what I can do as the item was correctly delivered. According to Google map suggested by EVRi the item was unlikely to be noticed from the street so the claim for stolen item is not valid. Personally I believe that this is an experienced buyer in getting refunds and keeping the items which I guess he resell it for profit. His account now is empty with no items for sale.

Sorry, to agree with what? It is a buyer with a long-term account on Ebay and lots of sales. I do not need any cinism here,I literally need a piece of advice. Yet Ebay admits their mistake but did nothing just charged me. I have no phone, no money and I sold a dress for free, plus I pay the Ebay fee on top. This is called Ebay policies to protect sellers. I never thought it can happen to me, yet it can happen to other sellers too so here's a warning to watch for. If any one would like to leave a pertinent comment I appreciate that.

"This is called Ebay policies to protect sellers" iv'e heard seller protection mentioned many many times on these boards but iv'e never seen any proof of it's existence 🤐
I think i have more chance of seeing air ....

I guess you're right. Luckily is not a big amount of money, but thinking of leaving this platform for good and joining other platform more resilient. They might attact buyers but if sellers retract from the platform that can cause an imbalance on the market. I recall it was a time when I barely could find a product I liked on Ebay. The fees are exagerated and the fact that they charge a fee from the postage it is something that I do not agree with. So I guess I will conclude this payment dispute and leave. Right now I have no phone, no money paid , no funds from a further dress sold meanwhile and Ebay charged me on top of all their fee £1.64 I guess. A joke.

eBay are running a scam where they are claiming ID is invalid, and using that as an excuse to hold funds. They did this to me after I sold a high-value item, everything had been fine up till then. They then rejected ID time and time again, and claimed my driving licence was out of date (expires 2033 - it's printed on the front) and my passport was invalid - it's not, it's got 3 years left to run. Excuses ranged from "we can't see your ID" to "it expired on (insert random date) to "you havne't given us ID". It's just a blatant scam to hold onto cash. I have made a formal complaint to the Financial Conduct Authority, when a bit of internet research made me realise the scale of this. I said to someone when they scrapped seller fees, "they'll find a way of getting this back". Funny old thing. eBay really is a disgusting company that needs to be regulated out of existence.
