Paying for return of wrong item

Hi I've been sent the wrong item, after a bit of back and forth seller has sent an address to return but has asked me to pay  postage and they will return it via PayPal.  Full refund of item once received postage for item is going to be £70 so I've contacted seller to confirm address and if there happy with postage costs . Since that message I've had nothing back  what should I do next .

Thanks for any help Gary

On every listing is eBay's 30 day MBG  Money Back Guarantee this describes the process for being guaranteed a full refund when you receive an item not as described.

Message the seller no more,  he's giving you false information and trying to get you over the timeline for that guaranteed refund,  so now,  just proceed this way:

If you are still within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery you are guaranteed a full refund,  under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy.

You have received an item not as described,  go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.

The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund,  if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you.  If they don't ,  need to escalate the case,  ask eBay to step in, and they'll force the refund.

Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early,  and do not forget to escalate.

It's probably just ignorance on the seller's part, I don't suppose they're deliberately trying to cheat you, but unless you return the item correctly, using eBay's money back guarantee as tressygirl has said, you could lose both your item and any right to a refund.

You wouldn't to be able to claim that you didn't receive it, as the seller would be able to provide proof of delivery. Or to return it as not as described, because you  would have already sent it to an unknown address provided by the seller.

Simple rule - if you receive the wrong item, return it under eBay's money back guarantee for a full refund. It will be up to the seller to send you a prepaid return label. Then, if you still want the correct item, you can buy it again.
