I have a buyer trying to purchase a letter opener. They tell me they are in their 60's but eBay won't allow them to buy the item. Is there something they are doing wrong that I can advise them on?

However, absurd it may sound, eBay class a letter opener as a ' bladed item' , and thus the buyer has to have a credit card on file, to prove they are over the age of 18, the legal age to buy any bladed item in the UK.
Only a credit card will do, eBay accept no other forms of verification.
If they do not possess a credit card to add to their eBay account, perhaps they can ask a family member or friend who does have a c. card on their eBay account, to buy this item for them.
