I have been using eBay since 2002 and I've seen many changes over the years. Some good some bad.
I have a basic shop which on the 20th Jan will lose the ability to have sales, promotions (buy 3 get one free) etc. and if I'm right the cost of the shop is going up and all I get is an extra 100 free listings.
As a sole trader I'm still classed as a private seller so now my customers are going to be charged too! If I upgrade my shop I will go back to paying fees so my items will have to go up. If I don't my buyer will pay so my items will go up anyway. I realise that eBay is trying to compete with other sites and they have buyer protection but the 75p is excessive.
Also I don't buy my postage from eBay as I'm disabled so I use another source so I can have it collected from my house and keep the cost of the postage down but I think I saw in the new details today that I will have to buy it through eBay from February. My parcels are often not scanned by the postman so aren't it always marked as delivered which means I'm going to have to wait 14 days before I get my money which eBay will earn interest on.
I sell low value items and this just isn't going to be viable either way.
You have at least very disgruntled long term seller and I can see from previous posts I'm not the only one.
Come on eBay why are you penalising the small private businesses and individual sellers!
There must be a better way than this?

Sole traders are NOT private sellers.
If you buy or make to sell, then you must correctly upgrade to business account.
Lots are complaining about new policy.

I think you need to check your facts on this. I have a shop and eBay have my tax reference so they know I am a sole trader. As a sole trader you can still be a private seller have a look at the conditions for this before you make ambiguous posts. eBay wouldn't be missing out on money if they thought they could get more out of me.

Business sellers are required to follow all government regulations, including registering as a business on eBay, and providing contact information and a return policy.
An eBay seller must register as a business if, for example, they sell items they have bought to resell, they make items in order to sell them, or if they buy items for their business.
