Marking items as dispatched when not sent by 'Simple Delivery'

I think others here are having the same problem.  I'm trying to mark an item I posted outside of the 'Simple' delivery system as dispatched, but when I do I get an error message saying 'there are no items eligible'.

Any ideas how to get past this stupid 'Simple Delivery' system?

To add a tracking number (which will mark it as dispatched) you still need to generate the original prepaid label.    Then go to the More Actions dropdown menu to add the new tracking or via View Order Details > Postage > Track Package > dropdown arrow.    That needs to be done on a desktop browser.

After that you can cancel the original label here:

Or if the buyer paid for it it will be refunded to them automatically in 30 days.
