Lost £150 on an item that wasn't signed for by anyone at my address

I purchased an expensive watch from what I thought was a good seller, he put in post with the Royal mail on a signed for service and it was a few days later when I had notification of delivery, I thought that was odd as I had not recieved anything or signed for anything, I got in touch with seller and he said yes you've signed for it! Clearly on checking the signature it wasn't mine or my wife's, or simply couldn't be because we hadn't recieved the item, I sent the seller proof of our signatures of bank card s etc and it was clearly not our signature s. I asked him to get in touch with royal mail to get either postman GPS details from the hand held device used for signature s and he sent a message back saying the royal mail said its been signed for! And refused to go any further, he had been paid so he didn't care, I could not persue the royal mail as it was nt me who payed directly for the postage, had a phone call from ebay which they basically said I had received it and I was trying it on which left me staggered! They also said to go to citizens advice to start a claim against the royal mail which I replied isn't that what I payed the BUYERS PROTECTION FEE FOR? They said that I had had a courtesy payment last month because royal mail didn't deliver something else and the GPS details shower it being delivered elsewhere, courtesy I said that s what the buyers protection fee is supposed to pay for, if I could swear I would, utter scam, they know you can't do anything and they don't care, one person not using ebay out of dispute with them makes no difference to them, fuming that they won't help, fuming that they suggested it was me who is trying it on, fuming that the seller not bothered, don't know what else to do

You can check the tracking on the Royal Mail website - with the tracking number, anybody can do that.

Have a look around your property and check with neighbours as well.

You can try opening a claim (chargeback) through your payment provider but if the tracking confirms delivery to your address they won't refund you.

The signature is irrelevant - the postman will quite often sign for items if they can go through the letterbox or somebody at your property might have used a fake signature.

You have misunderstood what the buyer protection fee covers.
