hi there wonder if anyone can help I sold a gearbox on here for a ride on lawnmower which was working before I sent it. I marked the Gearbox and took a picture of it went by received it about a week later. Text me saying it doesn’t work, so I granted him a label to send back and I told him before I send items out I’d mark them and take a picture and still I have not received anything back from him. No item or nothing. How do I go about making sure he does not get a refund as I think he was lying as I’ve not received goods back

Did he open a case for item not as described?
Then, if they do not send the item back, you do not refund.

Did he open a NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE?
If so and you have provided a return label then you are not required to refund until the supposed defective item is returned.
The ball is in his court, do not contact, if he does not use the label, you will not be charged and case will eventually close.
Buyer may have been trying it on hoping you would make a partial/full refund. As all buyers have 100% positive feedback, it is impossible to know if he has tried it on before.

You don't have to refund until/unless you get the item back.
If you look at the case, it will give you a date by which the item has to be returned - Ebay seem to give buyers about 10 working days to use the label.
If they don't send it back by the date shown in the case, Ebay will close the case in your favour.
