The issue is that, if you list jewellery for over £20, even in 'fine jewellery' which is specifically gold and silver jewellery, often with precious stones, Simple Delivery overrides your custom postage and you cannot offer Special Delivery.
Until maybe 6 months ago, jewellery was not eligible for Simple Delivery.
Then, it became mandatory for jewellery over £20.
At that time, I asked the Community Team, in this forum, if it was now covered and was assured that it was.
However, the policy/information pages have never changed and still state that jewellery can't be sent with Simple Delivery (even though sellers can't offer a different option!).
Most of my jewellery is under £20 so it's not an issue for me.
The odd thing I list over £20 automatically defaults to Simple Delivery and I have used that without issue several times.
If I sold an expensive item - for me, that would be over £100 - I would use Royal Mail Special Delivery, absorb the extra cost myself, and claim back the cost of the Simple Delivery label. (Only possible if an item is listed with freepost/seller pays.)
