Item removed for policy violation after sale

I recently sold an item but shortly after, I received an email to say it had been removed due to policy issues. I have appealed and upload receipt. Anyone been in this position? I have notified the buyer but a bit frustrating 😔

It was a designer bag. They have removed due to counterfeit but definitely not. I have uploaded a receipt for the appeal

Some brand owners don't like their items being resold on ebay.

Read VeRo at bottom of page.

You will have to find somewhere else to sell it.

Even with receipt, unfortunately does not prove it is for item you listed.

Ok as I've now dispatched the item but this notification has come after I have sent it so what happens now as I've also been paid by eBay too

As long as buyer is happy, I don't see an issue.

Don't contact buyer, hopefully all will be good.

eBay is frequently criticised for the number of counterfeit items sold here, so they can hardly be blamed for removing items when reported the the registered owner of the brand name. They have a scheme specifically designed to enable rights holders to do this, see VeRO at foot of page.

In some cases, brand owners registered rights can extend beyond counterfeiting to include the restriction of sale to authorised retailers or distributors. (Although I have never understood how this can be applied to second-hand items.) eBay tends to use "conterfeit" as a generic description of all rights related removals. If you want, you can search eBay's VeRO pages to find the particular rights registered by the brand owner concerned.
