I have a problem with the make an offer system.
Twice this past week, customers have made offers which were accepted by me. This then on both accounts went into pending payment showing buyers user name.
On the first occasion I noticed the item was still available to bid on and on contacting the buyer, they told me they had received no notification of the accepted offer from eBay.
Tonight, a buyer made me an offer for a jacket which I accepted. And this also went into pending payment.
Ten minutes later, I received a bid on a new item and it was the jacket that had just been sold.
I check who had made the bid and it was the same person above.
After messaging each other, the buyer/bidder advised me that when he made the offer, he received a message from EBay to bid on the item.
Major issues here.
I did call eBay the other day and updated them and was told they would send details to their technical dept and write next day but I've heard nothing from them.
I have also noticed that offers received are almost nil this last couple of days and I usually received a few each day.
Anyone else having similar issues?
Thank you

There have been recent changes to receiving / accepting offers. That is, if an offer is accepted and the buyer doesn't pay the item will remian for sale until payment is received either from that original buyer or indeed another member can jump in buy and pay.
As for the member receiving a message to bid, I believe they must have mistaken this message for another item. Messages are often sent if watching an item to remind the potential buyer to bid.
Personally I believe some members do wrongly believe, when their offer is accepted they have paid. If there hasn't been a payment within a reasonable time I have sent a polite message and invoice reminding to pay. This may set the clock back for another 4 days allowance to pay, but in my personal experience I found the buyer then pays promptly, usually apologising for the misunderstanding.
