International Selling From The UK - Postage Now A Complete Rip-Off For Buyers!

Ebay changed its international postage policy in the UK recently and today I realised just how ebay have decided to make a fortune out of postage.  I sell low value trade/cigarette cards for about £1 each and then combine postage.  A customer from the Netherlands has just paid £28.32 for items worth a total of £4.

I have had to call ebay customer services on several occasions since they decided to rip everyone off with Buyer Protection and International Shipping and despite the miscommunication, lack of understanding, lack of knowledge, lack of consistency and most importantly, lack of empathy.  They still felt it was ok to charge £4 for the item, £16.24 for postage and £8.08 import tax (that's a 200% mark up on tax for a £4 item).

Ive asked to make a complaint but was informed that nobody might get back to me.  So as a customer of ebay, not only do they rip me off, rip my customer off but they couldn't care less about getting it right in the future or even explaining the justification for the costs!

Does anyone feel that this is right, or are we all just being taken for a ride?  I've told my buyer to cancel, I can send the item to the Netherland, protected, signed for - the full works, including the contents for £14.  I don't even care if he pays.  I just ain't having ebay profiteering through sheer greed!!!!!

International Selling From The UK - Postage Now A Complete Rip-Off For Buyers!

There has been a technical issue everyone is experiencing when using Simple Delivery for combining postage.  It's  just not been possible.

One workaround sellers are finding,  is to end the items purchased, buyers refunded,   and relisting them as one listing for the buyer to buy again as there's one postage charge,  and the all important one tracking number.  A faff I know,  and far from ideal.

Some sellers are leaving a message on their listing,  for example.....   ' If you wish to buy multiple items,  please let me know before buying,  I will relist them as one listing so only one postage cost is charged, combining postage is not currently possible. '

As said,  a far from ideal situation ,  all we're told is eBay are ' working on it',   but no fix date yet announced. 🤔
