I was looking to buy a laptop but noticed that the image used is of a model that does not match the one described in the item description - the photo is of the 13ALC6 and the photo is of the 13ALC7 . EBay item number 388563357196

This is to my mind a serious problem, as ebay allow lazy sellers to use pictures from their catalogue rather than the actual item for sale.

Ask seller to clarify and send picture of actual item for sale. If in doubt buy elsewhere.

That's a new seller using a stock photo to sell multiples of an item, so best avoided.

For a start, they don't understand their product if they're not aware what model it is, and secondly they should be registered as a business seller.

Thank you vyolla, so do you recommend that I do not purchase this item because this was the only one I had my eye on , is there something eBay can do to verify which model they are in fact selling by contacting them?🤷‍♀️

No, eBay is a selling platform and sellers are responsible for their listings.

Do you think I should order it because they do offer returns, if it is the wrong model, or is that too much of a hassle🫤

Don't order from the seller.

Buy elsewhere.

If they are selling new items from a private account, using stock photos and mis-describing the items they are selling, ask yourself why you are even considering purchasing from them.

And then find a better seller.

If you buy it and it's not the version  you wanted you can return it using the money back guarantee with the seller paying the return postage.  The reason will be 'does not match description or photos'.

It's an automated process but not always hassle free and your payment will take a while to return to you.

I wouldn't risk it.
