As @jckl1957  correctly said,  being members like yourself, no access to your account,  we can only guess.  Do you have any unpaid item strikes on your account?  Are you in an area of the UK the seller may not sell to,  some block the Chan. Isles,  N.  Ireland, the Highlands, as some couriers charge extra here, and sellers may not realise Royal Mail charge the same all over the UK.

Does your credit card have at least 6 months validity?

Could be any reason,  as said,  hard to be exact here, sorry.
