I sold an item that is going to a UK address but it seems that the buyer is registered in the U.S. so ebay has charged international postage for it to go to the UK address, I don't know how to resolve this situation.

Check with the buyer where exactly they are.   If they need to update their ebay account you can cancel the current transaction via the dropdown menu for it on your orders page and relist after they've done that.

It's unlikely that eBay has generated an international postage label for a UK delivery address.

Why do you think that this is the case?

Are you sure buyer is not using a forwarding company.

As a non resident of the UK this is not unusual, but only UK postage would be payable, forwarding company would be responsible for postage to US, as they usually make up containers to ship in bulk.

looking at your listings it seems you are using eBay's Global Shipping, so it's best to know how services you use work.

The postage on the packing slip is £22.63 when it should have been £2.72

I only ship in the UK so have cancelled global shipping, thanks for pointing it out.

I managed to cancel the transaction and hopefully the international postage charge.

For items sold via eBay's Global Shipping Programme all the seller has to do is to get the item to the UK shipping hub by a trackable postage method.

The seller receives the domestic postage cost.

The GSP collect and receive the international postage cost and any upfront import fees that may be payable.

I think that perhaps you've got mixed up here, the postage label to the UK shipping hub did not cost £22.63.

I appreciate what you are saying but the customer invoice says postage is £22.63, I don't want my customer or me paying this fee, I have a duty to look after their interests as much as mine, it's possible that the buyer is in this country with work for several months and they have requested the item be sent to their UK address, maybe it's my fault for not opting out of global shipping but hey, I never expected anything like this to happen anyway. Thanks for your help.

£22.63 is the postage charge using global shipping for a buyer in the US and includes insured delivery and any taxes due,the address you have been given is probably Lichfield which is eBays Global Shipping Centre which your £2.72 covers.

That's correct though.

Your international buyer pays the £22.63. They could see that fee before placing a bid/buying and chose to go ahead. Postage to the US from the UK is expensive.

As explained earlier, you are not paying that fee, your buyer is. You will pay whatever the UK postage cost has been set at on your listing because you are posting to the UK GSP shipping hub.
