How can this happen?

I had to buy a proper postage as the one ebay used for their simple delivery  was too light and small. As i didn't want to saddle the buyer with extra costs ,i bought  the right one for £18  odds.I couldn't change the tracking number  but the item was delivered  on Friday and the buyer left positive feedback. So i contacted Ebay(took an hour and a half after being pushed from pillar to post). So it could be marked delivered and i could get paid.

This is the reply that i got in  the end

As the customer left positive feedback, I have tried to release the funds for you. But the system is not allowing me to add this tracking number, and update information..

Even though they found my tracking number i sent to the buyer. So i will have to wait 14 days to get my money, not a great deal £435.00 ,but enough to smart.

This is where Simple Delivery falls down.Next time i will post with the tracking they give me and saddle the buyer with the extra expense. After all a large package is just that.

And how do you think you will do this? Buyer is not obliged to pay any more than amount shown on listing, and even if willing there is no way to pay through ebay.

The correct but inconvenient way is to, with buyers agreement, cancel sale and relist with correct postage for buyer to buy again.

As far as your problem with tracking, it is not possible to add to the listing, but in the event of buyer clsiming not received, the new tracking can be entered into the case to prove delivery.

What a load of rubbish. If i send it with the postage label that Simple delivery has provided .The buyer will be stuck with the extra fees.As HE PURCASED the label. It was sold with buyer pays delivery. It was correctly listed (i've only been on here 20 odd years)Simple delivery made a mistake simple as that.

Did you list with the correct weight and size though?

Being on here for 20 years can actually be a disadvantage with all the changes if you don't keep up with them.

There can be no 'extra fees' if the buyer pays the correct postage for the item.

Hi Papso .I looked at that.As it was something of the like that i had never sold before,i did a different postal policy for that one item alone. The buyer was charged 6quid ,but doing it correctly cost me 18 odds. But i made the choice to do that, which is fair enough. My point really is that there is no way to change or amend tracking, with simple delivery.Ergo i have to wait 14 days for my money, which i would get even if it wasn't delivered.

That is correct eBay have made this change,  so that  you cannot now add any new tracking,   eBay suggest sending the buyer a message with those tracking details.  If a case is opened later for item not received,   you will be able to add those tracking details.

A refund is sent to whoever paid for the SD label:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.

Money is held than as you say,  for a minimum of 14 days, as per any untracked item .
