Hi. 

Please could someone tell me what an 'Ad fee general ' means?

I've sold an item and just spotted that £6.48 has been taken from the amount & it says it's for 'Ad fee general ' I have no idea what that is & why it has been taken. 

Please can someone explain what this is?

You must be using promotions to hopefully more. Promotions have to be accepted, they are not forced on you. Look at your listing form and towards the bottom there is the promotion section. 

Ebay suggest rates, I have seen up to 14%, but you have to opt use it.

It does rather defeat the claims of It is Free to sell.
