Has ebay asked for National insurance number or it is scam.

I sell my stuff when clearing on ebay

It's not a scam eBay is asking for NI numbers from their members those who have reached certain thresholds for selling namely, 30 items or over £1750 ( I think that's the right monetary amount),  in a year.

Did the message come through your eBay messages?  Check your Personal Information in your Site Preferences at the bottom there may be a ! in red... Add NI number.

Ebay can suspend your account until you supply NI number.
