Funds in balance not the right amount

I sold a item for £55 and £5.08 was put into my funds balance. Why is this such a low amount i thought it was free to sell on ebay.

We don't have access to your account but there is a place in your account that gives the breakdown of the payout amount, including deductions.

I suggest you look there.

Are you adding any optional listing upgrades to your items,  for example a Reserve ?

Add any of the following optional listing upgrades, and they all come with a non refundable listing fee.

This is payable sale or no sale and charged the second the item goes live.

Reserves: 4% of the set reserve ( maximum £150 per item)

Subtitles: £2

Listing in 2 catagories: 35p

Gallery Plus: £2.50 ( free for clothes and shoes)

Listings with duration 1 - 5 days 35p

As a tip, before clicking on the final List Item With Displayed Fees button,  glance just above it,  it should read £0.00 Listing Fee.

If there is a fee amount listed there,  you have selected an upgrade,  and if you wish,  it gives you time to scroll up and remove the payable upgrade.

Or,  have you promoted any item?  When item is sold this will show as Ad fee.

See here for a breakdown of your transactions,  and any fees taken.

Fees on this one item could never account for  £50 being deducted, but if you look in PAYMENTS all transactions, it shows all entries. You have a lot of items listed and any extras relating to those would soon mount up, and anything involving fixed fees is  taken as soon as listed.

When listing you are shown any fees payable BEFORE you click to submit.

You are using reserves, fee is 4% of reserve payable on listing, and is just a waste of money.

As you have now realised, the fees will have come from the items you have currently listed with reserves.

Best idea is to always list auction items at the lowest starting price you would be happy with.

The reserve fees are not hidden: when you list, you are offered the choice of a reserve but it does state a reserve is 'optional' and also states 'fees will apply'.

When you enter your reserve, it states the fee payable next to the reserve price box and then this warning comes up:  'Review your fee.  A non-refundable fee will be charged when your listing goes live whether the item sells or not.'
