Funds - On Hold (14 days)

Hi,

I have been an Ebay member since 2000, mainly as a buyer; but I have previously sold 2-3 items. At the beginning of October, I decided to list a few small items.

Between the 1st-16th Oct, I sold 2 items for approx £12; both sales were automatically paid into my bank account within a few days. Between the 17th Oct - 1st Nov; after Ebay removed automatic payments; I sold a further 6 items for approx £46. Although these fund were available to withdraw immediately, I did not request a withdrawal until the 4th Nov.

However, between the 4th-19th Nov, I've sold a further 5 items for approx £36; but each sale has a 14 payment hold with the following message:

"Thank you for posting your order! Because you have a limited selling history on eBay, your funds will be on hold until X Xxx. Make sure to upload your tracking details so you can deliver a better buying experience."

1. I've had no issues with items failing to arrive or any cases opened against me; so I wondered why this 14 day hold is now appearing on every sale?

2. If it's due to a limited selling history, then why were there no payment holds for the 8 items sold in October?

3. I've had buyers confirm receipt & leave positive feedback, but their payments are still on hold for the remaining time upto the 14 days. If the buyers are happy with their item, why can't the payment hold be removed before the 14 days?

4. If this is due to a limited selling history; is there a set period of time or number of items sold, before these 14 day holds no longer appear on my items?

Thx.

Funds - On Hold (14 days)

Holds can be placed on accounts at any time, it's for security reasons,  so we do not know when or what triggers a hold, aside from new accounts and a dormant account suddenly in use again.

Do you have tracking to show delivery for those items on hold?  Tracking showing delivery should release the money sooner.

It used to be 10 items sold with no issue to stop any holds, but not sure if this is the case now, and as said a hold can be placed at any time.

Hackers appear not only on brand new or on dormant accounts but those recently established with a few sales,  hence holds placed until tracking shows delivery.

Funds - On Hold (14 days)

Thanks for the information,

Although my account has never been dormant; it's certainly been several years since I've listed anything for sale. The address & bank details have not changed; so I was very surprised to start seeing these payment holds, after experiencing no issues in October.

All the items sold were between £4-£12 inc postage, so I've only obtained a Certificate of Posting. Buyers have confirmed receipt via messaging & have left feedback.

I'll let the November sales gradually work through their 14 day holds & see if they continue into December.

Thanks @tressygirl
