If I change from selling an item with free postage to using the Royal Mail 2nd class standard fee, then the buyer pays less in the total.

This is for items involved in the new buyer protection scheme.

Yes, just contradicts all the pushing by ebay for Free Postage. As there is no such thing as free postage the main beneficiary is ebay, with increased fees. May not be a lot, only 4% of postage cost but better in pocket of buyer.
