I didn't really want to start a new thread but I could find no way to add a reply to the existing thread with this title
My crisis is merely an irritation as it only involves a single listing but the irritation is that ebay interprets its rules whichever way suits ebay.
In this case, I put a reference to the manufacturers site in my description to save copy/paste a load of information about the product
ebay suspended the listing under its quite reasonable policy that "that buyers and sellers can't: -Share or request direct contact information prior to completing a sale. This includes: Name Addresses Phone number Email address Social media ID Instant messenger ID External website addresses (URLs) Payment information Bank details"
This policy is specifically about buyers and sellers exchanging information outside ebay. It is absolutely nothing to do with making information from a 3rd party available to a prospective buyer.
It is, of course interpreted that way because ebay's policebots are not bright enough to distinguish the different sorts of communication but why does ebay not simply ban URLs in listings? Simple, transparent etc (as opposed to hiding behind some artificial excuse)
Anyway I might write a letter - for therapeutic reasons 🙂 - if only I knew the address.
