Faulty car

I bought a car at the advertised price with no inspection. On the way home I realised that though the mot was valid it wasn't legal to drive. I asked a garage to in investigste. I thought wear n tear, so be it. After over a  month of work they confirmed that the relevant part had been smashed and disconnected and the seller must have known about it. Ebay now say they are not interested as I did not raise a concern with them within 30 days of the purchase. What have I done wrong.

There's no buyer protection on vehicles, so you wouldn't have been able to raise any kind of claim via eBay.

All cars must be inspected and paperwork checked before handing over your payment.
