Faulty Ceiling Light

Please can someone advise. I bought a ceiling light which is faulty. It has 4 settings and only 3 of them work. My problem is that it only became clear that this one setting was not working after 3 electricians put it up on the ceiling for £300! It is a giant chandelier type light and it took the guys ages.

I have phoned eBay who have put in a return request, however I do not want to be left £300 out of pocket. I would prefer a partial refund from the company who sold it to me. Otherwise, I want the company to reimburse me the cost of the light, the fitting and the P&P returning it to them.

I do not use eBay very much and so I am not sure what will happen next. Please can someone kindly advise?

Open item not as described case,

Seller can make a partial refund offer, if you accept, you get refund and case closes.

Seller can only make 1 offer.

They may just issue returns label, you return for full refund.

Ebay won't get involved with extra cost of electrician.

If it was UK business seller, your payment provider may help or check citizens advice.

Faulty Ceiling Light

Update....

Well the vendor refused a partial refund and the case has been closed against my will and I can't even leave them negative feedback.

I went to Trustpilot and found out that the company is rated 2.3 stars and have a long history of scamming people. Other people on Trustpilot had also been sent faulty electric items and even when returning the items to the company,  they still didn't get a penny back!

I have now decided to give up and learn an important lesson which is the ebay star ratings are pretty meaningless and in future I should check out independent sites such as Trustpilot before parting with my money!
