Fake seeds

I'v tried to call eBay regarding the ever growing number of people selling fake flower seeds but it's almost impossible to get hold of customer support to report this problem I think it's wrong that eBay doesn't do anything about this. I bought what I thought was purple sunflower seeds and some pink sunflower seeds and now they have grown all I have is small yellow substandard Sun flowers something you would buy in your local pet shop for the wild birds. I did manage to get hold customer support after a few days and they didn't want to know eBay isn't a trusted place to buy anymore. What really gets to me is I can't even leave feedback on this so they can still carry on ripping people like me off and eBay doesn't give a sxxx

Re: Fake seeds

There really isn't anything that eBay can do as regards seeds, these should be purchased from a reputable seller or, as you've discovered, you could end up growing any old thing and by the time you do it's too late to pursue a refund any route.

There is no such thing as the rich purple sunflower in the AI photos that the Chinese sellers use, the closest is Helianthus Sun Fill Purple, which doesn't really look like a sunflower.

When I first starting buying on eBay I bought some iris advertised as jet black that turned out to be the common blue variety!

Don't expect buying from eBay to be like buying from the shops. eBay makes it very clear that listings are the entire responsibility of the seller. The user agreement even warns buyers that "eBay does not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions". Would you buy from a shop that stated this?

eBay does provide it's own, 30 day money back guarantee if an item not as described, but the propogation time is probably longer than this, and in any case you would no longer be able to return the seeds in the condition received.

It's up to you whether to buy seeds from a known reputable supplier, or from an unknown seller on eBay.
