Failed Authentication

An item I sold recently has failed authentication and been returned to me but I have not been given a report or reason why it failed.  I've contacted the company who carried out the inspection who have told me it's down to eBay to tell me the details.  Trying to speak to someone is impossible, all I'm faced with is a chatbot that is driving me round the twist!  Has anyone got a phone number or email address for ebay?  Thanks

What was the item?

You can contact Ebay to get a callback but the agents who answer the phones will be unable to comment on the decision made by the authentication centre.

Often, items are rejected because of a small error in the listing or because they disagree with the condition the seller has chosen.

Jewellery seemd to get rejected it it doesn't have a full UK hallmark.

The failure notice may sometimes report what the problem was, but tit doesn't have to. It may simply state that they were unable to determine the authenticity of the item. The service is provided to eBay, not the seller, and eBay won't get into a debate about the authenticator's opinion.

My advice would be to check the item description carefully in case anything could have been taken as misdescribing it, also that it doesn't contravene any of eBay's listing policies.

If you want to verify the authenticity of an item you can usually get advice from an authorised distributor.
