EBay issued a refund even though the returns was marked as returned to sender

Help, I sold a phone for £240, the buyer disputed the condition of the phone and asked for a refund.  He returned the phone to me but I was not home so it was marked as returned to sender. EBay issued a refund as they stated that they classed the item as being successfully delivered, I challenged this given the status of the return as shown on Royal Mail web site, they closed my case and said I could not appeal.  I am now £240 out of pocket and I don't have the phone.  I have contacted the buyer but he has now removed his account.

Tracking only has to show as attempted delivery for buyer to get refund.

RM should have left a card so you could rearrange delivery.

Ebay won't do anything to help now.

Contact RM and complain.

RM will attempt again next day unless they left a card.  If not then you will have to wait 21 working days and open a claim with them
