Interesting I've Bought via Buy It Now a turntable on eBay for Collection Locally. Purchaseed via Paypal.
This is the first time eBay has sent me a collection code, so I've arranged a date and time to meet the seller, locally tomorrow, he states he gets home from work at 4pm but the seller , so I asked for the address and got the following reply....
For the eBay bot: Collection as per my listing
It’s not letting me share my address!
There is no address in his listing, only a location.
He then replies with -
Do you have a buyers code please?
I need to arrange collection
This read like a a red flag, I'm not handing over the collection code, and I stated it will be shown to him after I inspect the item.
He replied
How convenient…. Please can you share it? Weve arranged a time and place. If you don’t want it I’ll refund idtimmediately
Not sure what he meant by that, it's 4pm, but in a locality, no address supplied.
I replied
I do want the item - this is a copy and paste from eBay - Collection code (2)What is a collection code?A collection code is a QR code or 6-digit number that is required as proof of purchase and receipt of an item. Bring your collection code when you meet the seller. The seller will scan or enter the code in the eBay app to confirm that you collected the order. Always inspect the item you bought before showing the seller your collection code, to ensure the item is as described.Where can I find my collection code? When you buy an item for collection, we'll email you an order confirmation that includes a collection code. You can also access your collection code in My eBay > Purchases > Order details and My eBay > Messages.
I've asked for his address again, maybe I'll call eBay.

You are correct, you do not hand the code over, until you see, inspect the item, if all is OK, only then do you give the seller the code.
No point contacting eBay they cannot force the seller to give you the seller's address.
What you can do, is to send the seller a last polite message something like.... ' I am following eBay's rules, that is, I need to come and inspect the item, if everything is OK with said item, I only then hand over the collection code, otherwise I am left with opening a case for item not received . '
If they still disagree with arranging a date and time with the address for collection. You'll need to wait 7 days, and open a case for item not received. Listen to no excuses from the seller, and escalate on day 4, if not refunded beforehand.
Appropriate feedback can be left but don't mention anything about a case or refund, this is not allowed, something like.... ' very disappointed the seller did not fulfill this transaction'.

I think the Seller maybe confused, he suggests that his address is remove by the ebay system!
Anyway, we have a meet planned for later today at a Landmark in the village, and from there will go to demo the item, which he is very happy to do.
I was going to call eBay, to cancel the sale etc telling them he will not give me an address for collection, not to ask for his address.
Lots of confusion.
Hope fully later!

Just coming back to this, Seller had never used this collection code before, and it didn't accept the QR code, and needed to enter the number twice!
and the AI BOT seems to be over leaous and removing address for collection, so how collections are supposed to work, if communications remove the address for collection, that's a catch 22!

Sometimes you need to wait a few hours before trying to exchange contact details after payment.
It's very seldom that there are issues with addresses, and collection codes not working.

Just feeding back the facts!
1. over 15 hours had passed after payment, exchanging details was very difficult and could not be done.
2. AI bot used in sending messages was removing the address, and stating you are trying to trade outside of eBay! We had to send messages to a local landmark.
3. QR code did not work - fact.
4. Number had to be entered twice.
This transaction almost failed due to the above. eBay needs to do better, they are not a startup anymore.
