Does the Ebay global Shipping programme ship to the USA?

The Ebay advice is that the Global Shipping Programme ships to the USA, here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/global-shipping-programme

But two different US buyers for two different books have told me that it is not appearing as a shipping option for them despite it being enabled in the listings. Also there are rumours on other pages that Ebay International Shipping has replaced Ebay Global Shipping to the USA.

Anyone know what is going on please?

Ebay have suspended it to USA due to Trumps tariffs.

That's good to know. Do you have an Ebay page link where the US shipping status of Global Shipping from UK is tracked (e.g. Active, Suspended, Cancelled) please? I am puzzled that they have left USA as a valid destination on the Global Shipping help page, when it isn't actually a current option.

Your best bet at the moment is to use Royal Mail etc than GSP (and it will be upto 50% cheaper for the buyers)

My items are over £270, so there is an extremely complex customs form. Secondly, if Ebay pre-charges any import duties, you have to find a way of connecting the customs documents to the tax. Thirdly, Royal Mail charges a lot extra for insuring large value packages, but the insurance is extremely complex to claim. Also, you can't lodge a claim until long after you've had to refund the buyer. If Royal Mail then finds the package, as they frequently do, they hand it over to the buyer and don't pay the insurance to the seller. Also, you may get asked for the Ebay tax ref by the post office if you say it was an Ebay sale (how many people would know where to find that or what it is? I didn't have any idea the first time.) The Trump tariffs now mean that there is a threat of the buyer not ransoming the book when it arrives in the US and they will have to hand over their tax codes potentially - the book could get stuck in a forever queue or returned to sender with postage expenses forfeited. Also the amount below which you are exempt from tariffs has already changed once and might change during transit. Overall, there is now an unacceptable list of risks and delays for other international services AND you often get treated as though you are a smuggler by staff.

CN 23's aren't overly more complex, for insurance purposesthou Your issue is RM can only insure upto £250. My other preference for non Royal Mail items to the US is always UPS which are competitive on US rates, and may be worth checking on their website. - You can insure to the full value, and the commercial invoices are relatively s straightforward. Generally on their services its a 3 day service.
