Damaged in transit

Item was damaged upon arrival and buyer requested a refund. I've done this before and had no issue but now the buyer purchases postage themselves and pays for buyer protection so is out of pocket for more than the listing price which I have refunded. There is no useful guidance from eBay on this matter and all I can suggest is that the buyer takes it up with Evri and / or eBay which looks as if I'm being unhelpful.

Any thoughts or does the new selling regime need tweaking?

You refund, and ebay make up the difference by refunding their fees.

If a case has been opened, just proceed as normal and let ebay sort out the details.
