DPD

I purchased a watch which was dispatched by EBay default courier company DPD. To cut a long story short don’t ever use DPD. They failed to even get near making a delivery 3 times even after paying extra for a vip time slot. I am now overseas with work so unfortunately have to request the watch is sent back to the seller and get a refund. Feel really sorry for the seller as they have been great. I opened a case up with eBay but they still think the courier is going to try again. But that is now not an option as I’m overseas. I need to ensure DPD get informed by EBay to get the parcel returned asap. EBay call backs will not work due to my overseas location. I can’t add any extra info to the case file either. Any clues guys

eBay won't get involved in contacting DPD. As you have opened a case with eBay you will just have to pursue it with eBay. A slight worry is that if the courier records that delivery was attempted eBay's policy is or used to be to treat attempted delivery as being successfully delivered. Thankfully this bizarre and self-contradictory policy seems no longer to be stated in the revised money back guarantee.

You haven't told us whether this was a business or a private seller. Assuming that eBay finds in your favour, if the seller is a business they will be responsible for replying to the case.  If it's a private seller and they used eBay's simple delivery eBay, will be responsible.

In either case, if you don't get a satisfactory respnse within3 working days you may need to escalate the case for eBay to step in. As you obviously have internet connectivity you can do this from abroad.

Deliveries and returns have become more complicated, your case especially so. According to how things progress, don't hesitate to ask for advice here again.

Thank you for the reply. It was a private seller. Just actually spoke to an EBay rep who was actually very helpful. Hopefully he is going to make a formal complaint against DPD. This shoddy service from them along with lying about their attempted failed deliveries is common place. I took screen shots of all their failed 3 attempts at delivery as evidence if needed. Such a waste of time though.
Thank you

Hopefully, you have kept the seller in the loop and they know the watch is on its way back to them.

Was it an expensive watch with the authenticity guarantee?

Yes the seller has been excellent. He just wants the watch back asap but with DPD who knows. Yes it was cleared by the authenticators. The seller said he had no choice on the courier from the authenticators. Hope eBay reviews their contract with DPD. If you research the DPD performance what I experienced is commonplace - it’s easy for the drivers to make stuff up as they get no incentives for clearing all the deliveries. I mean three times!!

The watch will go back to the authenticators then as that will be the address DPD has.

Hopefully, they will return it to the seller.

There is a chance they (authenticators) may simply send it back out to you.

But that’s the issue-I am now overseas working for the foreseeable hence I paid DPD for the VIP delivery. I was only in the UK at home for that week which should off been ample time. Even if I were at home and they attempted to arrange delivery again with their default courier DPD I would say they are incapable of making a delivery. Good job i took screenshots of their botched attempt of delivery on the DPD tracker app

Even though you are away from home, I would suggest you watch the DPD tracking and communicate with the seller.

Full communication with seller and the DPD tracker is showing the parcel is being returned to EBay. But DPD need to held accountable or this will just keep happening. And if EBay insist on using DPD that will indirectly effect their reputation
