Hi,
For the 1st time a customer of mine (UK based) has been charged VAT,they are not querying it but I am not registered for VAT and Ebay have never charged any of my customers VAT in nearly 9 years of selling here, other than sales taxes for overseas buyers. The only thing I can think of is that the country of origin of the book is Australia.... it amounts to 20% of a book price at 6.98.
May take it up with Ebay but thought I would get some thoughts here 1st
Kind Regards , Michael, Shedlight Books

There are other reported instances of items in the book category having VAT added incorrectly. It's an ebay glitch. No-one comes back to tell us how that was resolved.
There are also instances of buyers thinking they have been charged VAT on an item when it's actually on the postage.

Hi,thanks for your post ,very helpful, the item was free postage, so an ebay glitch is most likely.
