I bought a pair if sunglasses that turned out to be fake. I opened a return and seller refused and ebay closed the case. I now have no way to appeal as ebay closed the case. I have buyer protection so i should be entitled for a refund, how do i claim or move forward as the case is closed there seems to be no way to move forward. Also asked for a call back that never happened.

If you used "Not as described" or similar as the reason it would only close without resolution if you let it time-out after 30 days, or if it was started after that time in the first place. Sellers can only refuse change of mind returns such as "Doesn't fit".
Contact your payment provider and ask them about a refund or chargeback.

Presumably you opened the case more than 30 dsys after you received them.
Buyer protection is not given by the buyer protection fee but by the money back guarantee.

It would be easier for people here to help you if you told us how you paid, when the item was delivered, how soon after receiving it you opened the case and the reason you gave for the return. Everything on eBay depends upon exact dates and procedures.
As has been said, you may now need to contact your payment provider e.g. credit or debit card to see if they can help. They will tell you what evidence they require thaqt the iem was counterfeit. (eBay would usully just tke the buyer's word.)
