Counter offers

I recently Sent an Offer to Buyers of £8 for an item. I received a counter-offer of £6.12 (after Buyer Protection deducted - absolutely outrageous but another story!) and countered with £7.  The buyer then countered with £5.53, which was LESS than his original offer?? I countered with £6 and it happened again - £5.53?? I couldn’t counter again because I’d used up my 3 goes so, not wanting to lose the sale, I accepted the offer of £5.53. This doesn’t seem right and has never happened before that a buyer can counter LESS than the original offer?? I’ve attached email notifications because another thing that happened was that all the offer history disappeared BEFORE  I accepted the final offer and this was the only way I could check it. Was this some kind of technical hitch?

Re: Counter offers

That is the way offers work now,  that is, if a buyer sends the seller an offer then the Buyer Protection Price is taken off,  so the seller receives less.

Re: Counter offers

Thanks I know about that but that’s not what I was asking! If you read my
question again you’ll see it’s about the fact his second counter offer was
LESS than his first, instead of more!
