Cost of packaging

I buy in new boxes and use a lot of bubble wrap and void paper as I sell glass and china and early on learnt the hard way that skimping on packaging is not worth the hassle.  As a result I general add between 20p and 50p to the postage cost to ensure I break even on packaging. I certainly don’t try to profit on packing.

Simple Delivery precludes this and as a result I either have to suck up the packaging costs or add it to the listing price. What with BPF as well this makes the lower end of the collectibles market completely unviable. Some things I sell for 99o which I was happy to do to see family treasures successfully rehomed but 99p is actually £1.75 with BPF and if you then add 20p for packaging you are more than doubling the price. Plus SD wants to charge £5.15 for posting with Royal Mail which - as a disabled person - is the only option available with home collection.

Cost of packaging

You can opt out of Simple Delivery if you prefer but you have to do it on each listing.   So during the listing/revising process click on "Switch to advanced options" at the bottom of the postage section, and again on the pop-up you'll get.
