Cancelled sale fees

I recently sold a bed as a private seller

it was listed both at a fixed price and option to make an offer

Someone contacted me via eBay asking to make an offer which j accepted the offer but their payment did not go through so the item was relisted. The same buyer contacted me again asking me to lower the price. I said to make up an offer which I accepted again, and after many exchanges where they were explaining that they were having payment issues finally, for whatever reason the payment went through. Payments are held with ebay till collection code scan.

We then started exchanging messages to organise the collection, because this was a large item after a very lengthy exchanges of multiple questions, we organised collection time and date. On the day, she kept changing the time and giving me all sorts of excuses. Clearly i fell into a scam.

buyer has now sent a cancellation request which i want to gladly accept, except ebay is charging me sale fees. Why should i pay fees for a sale that was cancelled by buyer. Now buyer is harassing me via the platform asking me to accept sale cancellation so she could get her money from ebay. I refuse to pay any fees for this horrible experience.

any advice on how to manage this situation?

Cancelled sale fees

Unless you added any optional listing upgrade  there are no seller fees to pay.  What is the amount you are being charged?

Add any of the following optional listing upgrades, and they all come with a non refundable listing fee.

This is payable sale or no sale and charged the second the item goes live.

Reserves: 4% of the set reserve ( maximum £150 per item)

Subtitles: £2

Listing in 2 categories: 35p

Gallery Plus: £2.50 ( free for clothes and shoes)

Listings with duration 1 - 3 days 35p

As a tip, before clicking on the final List Item With Displayed Fees button,  glance just above it,  it should read £0.00 Listing Fee.

If there is a fee amount listed there,  you have selected an upgrade,  and if you wish,  it gives you time to scroll up and remove the payable upgrade.

ebay is charging me sale fees.

You are a private seller, and eBay no longer charges private sellers any fee for selling here.

As tressygirl has explained, you must have chosen to use some of the optional, paid-for listng features that eBay offers. You pay for these to enhance your advertisemant, but they don't guarantee that your item will sell.

If you set a reserve price, in most cases this is just a waste of money. Next time, just start the listing at the lowest price you would be willing to accept. This will give you the same protection against the item selling too cheaply, but for free.

Cancelled sale fees

What sale fees are you being charged?

That was a fixed price listing, so couldn't have had any associated fees unless you selected to promote your listing.
