Buyer wants to cancel the purchase and has put INCORRECT reason for cancellation

My buyer wants to cancel my sale, he finally admitted he is out of work and has no money. The reason he gives on the cancellation is "wrong payment information" which is not true. Will ebay count this as as fault on my part if I accept this.  I have been a member 25 years, almost 5000 deals done, 100% positive feedback, never had a return/defect and I want to keep my record clean.  What should I do ?

No,  eBay will not place a black mark on your account for accepting a cancellation.

I would also strongly advise, accepting it in this case.  There's no point sending an item which clearly will not be paid for,  so you'll find yourself in a longer wait to cancel for item not paid.

Accept the cancellation citing Buyer Requests to cancel.

This full refunds your buyer,  and your seller  performance will not be affected.

Block them too,  from returning and messing you about again,  here:
