Buyer wants refund as item is late

Relatively new to the selling process and I've had a buyer ask for a refund/cancel the order as it's not arrived yet. I checked with Yodel and they have said the item was delayed due to bad weather but it will be delivered to the pick up point tomorrow. I'm not sure what the process is for this.

Ask the buyer to collect the item tomorrow and if they don't want it they can open a return on ebay to send it back.

Can they really ask for a return due it being delayed a few days?

Yes, ebay allows it.

And am I obliged to accept the return?

Depends what case buyer opens.

If normal return, change of mind, you can refuse.

If not as described, you issue returns label and refund in full on return.

Buyer may be awkward, may not.

IMO. Better to get item back and resell.

Your item shows a dispatch within 3 working days and then sending with RM Tracked 48.

Your buyer can only open an 'item not as described' return for lateness if it arrives after the latest estimated delivery date.

You should check this date.  Look in 'orders' and then click 'order details' to see the range of estimated delivery dates for your sold item.

If the item is not actually late, send your buyer a polite and lovely message, apologise for the delay but point out that the item was due to be delivered between the ... and the ... and is not actually late.

That is what I would do.
