Buyer wants me to post the item, it was listed for collection

A buyer has purchased an item I had listed for collection. He wants me to post it to him and he will cover the cost separately. I have never sold before and dont know the logictics. ebay will pay me when I scan a code that was emailed to the buyer. The buyer is not coming now. Should I really post it to the buyer and hope that he sends the QR code to me so ebay can release my payment?

If you don't mind posting it would be safer to cancel and relist with postage.  Click on the dropdown menu arrow alongside the item on your orders page and select Cancel order > Buyer asked to cancel.    A refund will be issued in the process, then relist for the buyer to buy and pay again.

But if you prefer not to post it you can cancel using the reason  Something wrong with buyer's address,  ie. too far away to collect easily.    And put their ID on your blocked bidder list:

No you should not try and change the rules to suit your buyer as you will have no proof of delivery in the event of a claim.  That's a bigger risk than just a delayed payment.

Presumably you listed for collection because you didn't want the bother of posting, and by listing for collection you limited your buyer pool, so this buyer is trying to get a bargain.

If you are willing to post, cancel, using problem with buyer's address, and list again with tracked postage.

If you don't want to post, you should still cancel.
