Buyer put old address and now it's been sent back to me- what do I do next?

Buyer didn't amend their address on Ebay and so it was sent to their old address and refused by the new owners. Item has now been returned to me. I  purchased the postage label through Ebay (Yodel )

What I do next?

You haven't paid for the return postage ,  but you do need to refund fully,  that is,  everything the buyer initially paid you as you have now,  both their full payment and the item.

Send them a message explaining what has happened ,  it's easy to forget to amend the delivery address on one's eBay account.

Explain you will be refunding their money and relisting the item,  if they wish to buy again to ensure their delivery address on their eBay account is changed to the correct one,  and on purchase Before paying , to double check at eBay checkout,   on the left hand side ,  the correct  delivery address is showing if it's not,  they can amend it before payment.

Cancel the order citing Problem with Buyer's Address.  This fully refunds the buyer, and your seller performance is not affected .

You can then if you wish relist the item.

The initial postage charged for the item sent out,   unless you offered ' Free Postage' and didn't include this in your starting price,  then if the postage was showing an amount separately on your listing,   the buyer paid for this, and so you do have to refund everything the buyer initially paid to you.

Royal Mail returned the item back to you at no extra cost.

Yes. Who else do you think is going to pay?Selling on ebay you have to accept the risks of buyers who never update important information.

I would just add buyer to blocked bidders list and not give them a second chance of wasting your money.
