Buyer protection!!! A few years back PayPal just before they unlinked from ebay made a fantastic offer. Given 10 days upto £5000 of sales pay pal matched it £5 for every £1 I gave in sales to charity. I raised the £5000 and they paid £25,000 into the charity account. Now in 2025 ebay introduced" buyer protection" they calculate a % I lose and the buyer pays before the regular 25% or even 100% donated. Essentially they take ( steal) money from charities selling. Yet apparently there are no seller fees " ebay is free to sell on" I now can donate less each time because ebay take it. Sure it's my choice to donate money to charity.....but is it right that ebay are profiteering from this? What protection? If it once sold gets lost I have to refund it. Ebay are not insuring it or underwriting the sale I am! @sales #sales , #charity,#taking money out of charity donations

Under eBay's new simple delivery eBay does effectively "insure" items against loss or damage in the post. The seller is only liable when an item is not as described.

Sure but many items I send special delivery so I'm already asking the buyer to pay protection

And the return process is controlled by AI if a person ticks the not as described they will always circumvent that process. I sell coins I add all marks use 5 to 15 photos and yet one tiny mark could be used in a spurious return

Either way they still steal a percentage from the charity donation. The antithesis of good corporate responsibility and discourages offers and eBay giving

From replies to previous questions asked here I thought it was possible to select a form of special delivery using simple delivery? It's not something that I've used myself but other responders mayamy be able to advise on this.

It is and I do send it that way it us guaranteed up to £500 so why would I want to pay ebay and for them to take it from charity donations for insuring it twice . And making the buyer pay twice
