Hi, I know this problem has been posted about elsewhere, but I thought I'd ask the community for advice. A buyer won a bid on my item late last night, then this morning they messaged me saying they no longer want it, and I can 'feel free' to relist it. They said 'I no longer require the item as I've already bought it from somewhere else, so feel free to relist it it will sell...' Note there was no apology. I replied 'thanks for letting me know'. They then wrote back saying 'Thanks for that', and that they paid more for it from the other seller. I replied saying I was puzzled as to why they kept bidding, only to then pay more for it elsewhere? They wrote that they had previously lost a bid, so they were afraid of missing out again if they were outbid on my item, so they bought the other one. I think they'd had automatic bidding on mine, because they'd bid each time someone else bid.
What is the right thing to do here? Shall I just cancel? I saw on another website that you can offer a 'second chance bid' to the next bidder, but is that only if the buyer doesn't pay? One comment thread elsewhere suggests waiting 4 days, then selecting 'buyer didn't pay' so that they get a ding on their account. But I wonder if I'll get messages from this person asking why I haven't cancelled it yet, if I wait. Another comment I saw on a similar questionsaid to report and then block the buyer, for wasting a seller's time.
Would it be best just to cancel and put 'buyer requested' it, then report and block? Could I still offer it to the second bidder, if they still want it?
It's only a small value item (very sought after the moment), but I'm at a stage where every penny counts.
I'm sorry to write a lot. I'm a newish seller, and this was my first auction listing (and probably my last)! Buy it Now is much easier I think.
Thanks in advance.

You can hold off cancelling if the buyer has not paid then cancel after 4 days (so on day 5), using the reason 'buyer did not pay'. The buyer gets a non-payment strike on their account.
Personally, I would just cancel immediately using the reason 'buyer asked to cancel', relist or offer to the underbidder, block the person who messed me about and get on with my life.

Hi, thank you. The second option sounds sensible - it'snot worth the extra time. I've just cancelled the order, but now I can't find where to make an offer to the underbidder - I'm looking everywhere on there! I've got the order up, but can't find where it gives me that option. Please can you help? Thanks.
