Business account

E bay are telling me I need to transfer to a business account. But I’m not a business. I have sold a lot recently because I cleared my late mother’s house and then moved from a 5 bedroom to a 2 bedroom property and had lots of excess furniture that would not fit. Most of it has now been sold so I will not be selling very much in the future. I do not want to transfer to a business account.

All you can do is to contact eBay Customer Services and plead your case , you need to prove you are selling your used unwanted items and to keep your Private account to sell those items,  see what they say,  their word will be final.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

 https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid

Lines open between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

I recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning, when the lines first open,  as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

This ebay message will automatically be sent when due to a change in account  activity,so as you suddenly started selling lots of furniture etc,it has been noted by ebay for  consumer policy purposes and of course to highlight the digital sales reporting to HMRC.Which you read about in the link below.Contact ebay as suggested if you comply with being a private seller.

Selling online & HMRC | UK Seller Centre
