I am not a regular user so apologies for this but I have just sold a car on ebay and I think the only option for payment I was given was "cash on collection". Ebay is now saying "Buyer hasn't paid yet. We have reminded the buyer to pay. You may wait for the payment or send an invoice again. You can cancel the order for non-payment beginning x." The buyer is saying that he does not have the option to pay. I would have preferred to have had the protection from ebay on this payment as it is a large amount. I am nervous about agreeing to meet the buyer without certainty of the payment or do I have to just take the risk and simply not hand over the keys and logbook if he doesn't bring the cash? Also did I miss something on selecting "cash on collection" or is this the only option for some sales? Thank you in advance.

The only option on this sale was 'cash on pickup'.
The buyer can't pay through Ebay. You will need to mark the item as paid for after the buyer has paid you the cash.
Do not hand anything over until you have the cash or, if the buyer sends a bank transfer, the money is showing when you log into your bank account.

Thank you very much for your confirmation. I will proceed as you suggest.

Nooo, you do not hand over car / keys / paperwork /anything if the buyer does not bring along cash or pays with a bank transfer on collection.
They cannot pay through eBay checkout, and there is no buyer protection for cars bought on eBay, that is why it's important not to part with the car or anything , until paid on collection.

OK thank you very much. Yes I wasn't going to hand anything over until I had the cash or could see it in my bank account. It is just the messaging on ebay is confusing. Thanks for taking the time to comment on here.
