All my bank accounts fail to authenticate on eBay

I have been an eBay member for almost 15 years, (originally eBay UK, then eBay Germany when the UK left the EU, and lately started using eBay Ireland because it is the only English-language eBay site left in the EU). I occasionally sell some of my things I no longer need (usually camera equipment), and have 100% seller and buyer feedback. A couple of weeks ago I put  about a dozen items for sale on eBay Ireland. The sales were going well, until eBay suddenly started to complain that my bank account (which I have been using for several years) must be authenticated.

I tried at least a dozen times to update my bank account for seller payments. I tried entering the data of four of my accounts in two different banks (one of them is a major bank with physical offices in dozens of Swedish cities). After a few minutes the red popup "we were not able to verify etc." is displayed again. Why now?

I tried uploading bank statements in PDF format, generated from my bank online. eBay instructions say the statement must include my street address. The PDF statements contain my ID details but not address. The bank does not do it for privacy reasons, e.g. someone is rooting in a trash container after valuable information, and there is nothing I can do about it. My other bank is online only but has international account numbers etc, but apparently this is not good enough for eBay.

Of course I can find no human I can contact at eBay to straighten out the problems.

I have thousands of euros that eBay is withholding, and no way forward.

This account is registered in Sweden?

You are speaking with eBay withholding money in Euros, having  an account registered in Sweden and asking on the UK site,  this is where your issue lies.

I think you should direct your questions to Customer Services on the .com site.  You need to log out of here, clear cache and cookies and log into www.ebay.com

Thanks for the suggestion, I think it is worth a try. I also think I will wait for all of the money to become marked as available (two orders are still in transportation and of course not marked as available). This way, if CS can help me to find a solution, I can transfer all the held money in one go.

In any case, I killed all my remaining ads to make sure the items cannot be purchased, and I do not intend to continue selling on eBay, even if one of my accounts should be authenticated.

I also have a credit and a debit card connected to my bank account. Do you have any idea whether eBay can use a card instead of a bank account to transfer seller payments?

Ebay will only transfer payments into an authenticated bank account that is valid in your country.  That's why you should have been listing on the site that covers Sweden, assuming that's where you are.

PS -  when I try to manage my payments on the ebay.ie site I am usually (not always) forwarded to the ebay.co.uk site. The UK site seems to be the one handling payments also for the EU. I am quite sure it also handles payments for Ireland.

Of course I tried authenticating my accounts on ebay.ie, ebay.co-uk and ebay.de. Always same result.

Then eBay should have warned me not to advertise on eBay.ie. It didn't.
