I was given the wrong infromation by ebay for an email and phone number address for a seller who has sold a faulty but brand new item....the item is still under guarantee but due to the fact that ebay refuse to divulge any details more than 90days old even though their guarantee is 12 months minimum, wouldn't it be wise to keep all details on file for buyer to use so we can contact these people .....who sell items under different names, item id's and make themselves untraceable and honest users dont get ripped off with a silly excuse like "itsover 90 days hard luck....EBAY YOU HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM ...your are restricting contact between buyer and seller ......even during the guarantee periods....shame on you.....all contact must remain full the the duration of the written guarantee period not what you decide take a close look at the distance selling rights...
regards
very confused long term buyer....
(( and a very upset daughter who got robbed of a netbook due to ebay so called laws ))
Any information held by eBay has been placed there by the member when they registered their account. If the contact details are incorrect it's because the member has input them incorrectly or not updated them. However, the seller's email address is going to be the one you made payment to, you could try contacting them on that, unless they've now changed it.
Any warranty offered by an online seller is only as good as your ability to enforce it. Guarantees and warranties are nothing to do with eBay or PayPal.
It would have been prudent to print out a copy of the listing and the seller's details when you bought the item, and filed it away somewhere.
If the seller is still trading as a UK business you can run this by Trading Standards, they may be able to offer some advice here.
