unauthorised purchase

Someone has made an unauthorised purchase of four items of software downloads totalling £140.00 using my ebay account and paypal. I have contacted both the seller and paypal and all money will be refunded hopefully.

Two of the software downloads were on ebay and appeared in my purchased list whereas the other two items were paypal digital gifts and I have no idea who bought them. However why would someone buy the ebay items which would be of no use to them as they are delivered to me?

The first thing I did was change all passwords. My question is how did this happen? I have not given any details of my accounts or passwords to any phising emails etc. The only change of my online activity has been to open a new Yahoo email account about two days before this happened. I did associate my Gmail and Hotmail accounts with this Yahoo account. Is there any way that password information can be gleaned from my emails? None of my emails had account information in them. Seems unlikely but rather a coincidence.

I have always been pretty paranoid about computer security and keep all my laptops and PC's ( all windows 10 ) updated with virus software and Windows defender as well as scanning regularly with anti spyware software.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

"In other words, it shouldn't be possible for anyone to use your PayPal account unless 1) they have access to your computer, 2) you used the same password for eBay and PayPal, or 3) you were tricked into giving away both passwords."

I agree, it should not be possible. No one has access to my computers, I live in the middle of nowhere and as I've answered before I've not disclosed any info to anyone. My wife assures me that she is not guilty!!

This should be impossible I know but it's happened and I find it worrying, hence the post. I'm pretty PC savvy, have been for years, though I'm not a programmer.
