seller has disappeared how do I go about getting my money back

So I have never had this problem before in the long history of using ebay I brought an item from what I thought was a company this was to protected myself as much as I could as it is a bit of a pricey item and for a teenager for school work.The item arrived but its not fit for purpose so I was going to contact seller and ask for a refund and to ask how to send the item back to them,  but 1 the item is not in my purchaes history which I find strange and 2 I cannot find the seller on ebay.  I have tryed to contact ebay but unless I can click on the item I do not seem to be able to get hold of them, as I wanted them to help me fine the seller if I can not contact the seller and as ebay has a money back garantee I was wondering if I could get my money back from the garantee.     Thank you to anyone who can help me.
