Hi
I won an auction and paid instantly £199.90 ( the seller has good feedback, so I am not feeling its a scam )
I then get a message from him saying dont pay , obviously I have now paid , he said he sold the item on facebook marketplace , but couldnt cancel the auction due to ebays 12 hour policy once there are bids , not sure if this is true , but if it is its not great for buyers .
The auction was cancelled and I have a message saying cancellation complete and estimated refund 199.90, but the seller says this money never hit his paypal account , does that sound correct , do ebay block it and then refund the payment ?
If so how long does it take normally ?, thanks for any help , but I have been on here 17 years and never had this situation
adding to the advice already given -
Once you get your refund leave feedback to reflect that the seller refused to honour the transaction and in doing so they broke several eBay rules.
even if they had time to cancel the auction they would have violated eBay rules.
eBay can do without sellers who don't honour transactions and buyer's who don't pay.
The seller is correct that if there is less than 12 hours to go they can not cancel the listing.
If the seller is on managed payments then the money does not go into their paypal account ebay take it and once fees have been take it is put into the sellers bank
If it says refunded on the item in your Purchase history then you should get the money back
If you paid by paypal then it should be instant
If from a debit card it can take up to 7 days to show on your account
if from a credit card it can take up to 30 days to show on your statement
Go to the item in your Purchase history and see what it says there
